The Death of Queen Elzabeth II

It is with great sadness that we heard of the death of Queen Elizabeth II and our hearts go out to all her family as they mourn their loss, and to the new King as he takes on his new role, whilst mourning the death of his dear mother.

For most of us, the Queen has been the only monarch we have known, a constant amongst so many changes during our lifetime. Her servanthood and sense of duty have been firmly embedded and sustained by her strong Christian faith, for which we give thanks as we remember with gratitude her long life and service, Her support for Sark, both in person, through the Royal Family and through the Lieutenant Governor has been unstinting, seeing Sark through some momentous changes since the war.

There will be a period of mourning, in which the churches will be key. Prayers and statements will be read out at our united service at Chapel on the 10th September, and there will be a commemoration and memorial service on the 18th, replacing the Sea Service. Details of this will follow.

My thoughts and prayers are with members of both churches, the community of Sark and all those who love and support our island community, with regret that I am curently away from the island until the 16th, but I will keep in contact and make all necessary arrangements whilst away.

With sadness and love

David

Minister of Sark
